Sainsbury’s and Finlays have partnered to launch a dedicated roast & ground product sourced directly from the lush, rolling hills of La Celia – a small town nestled in Colombia’s coffee heartland. Over the past four years, Finlays, the Coffee grower´s Cooperative of Risaralda - COOPCAFER, University of the Andes in Colombia & Cardiff University in United Kingdom have pioneered new coffee growing model. This initiative is more than just about providing great quality coffee, it’s about empowering 34 dedicated women farmers and demonstrating what climate resilient coffee can look like.
As a business, we are committed to reducing carbon emissions in our supply chains and to protect & regenerate landscapes. In La Celia, we are supporting the reduction of carbon emissions on farms while enhancing the resilience of both the environment and the communities that depend on it. Through a holistic approach focused on low emission fertilisation and forest restoration, we are supporting these inspiring women to create a model of sustainable coffee farming that benefits both people and the planet.
